In the sultry late summer days of 2008, Take It Off started out with three members: Monique
Sandifort (vocals), Caroline Slikker (drums) and Dorien Donker (guitar), managed by their
friend Niki Dicker. The band was named after the song ‘Take It Off’ by The Donnas, one of
the All Girl Rock bands that inspires the band. Soon, the need for a bass player became
evident, and after half a year of looking for one, they found Roos Lievaart, who completed
the band. They played their first gigs in the summer of 2009, after a year of writing songs,
practicing and a lot of fun.
Their first recording: the EP Burned Tattoo was released under direct management of the
band itself and was launched in venue De Supermarkt in The Hague by Gerard van den
IJssel. Also their music has been played on several radio stations. But after a number of
months of gigs and practice, Roos found that she did not have enough time for the band
between school and other activities. In December, the band found two new band members:
Irene van Aarle (bass) and Denise Bunschoten (second guitar).
The band is now complete and busy writing new material and performing in venues all
through the country. Also the band will be working on recording their first album.
Take It Off is a strong band, driven by passion, enthusiasm, plus the help and support by
their friends, family and fans. The girls describe their own music and performances as sexy
with a tinge of darkness. An alternative chick rock band that will be stuck in your memory for
quite some time…
